Being Yourself

Wisdom from a Cartoon

I yam what I yam and that’s all that I yam, I’m Popeye the Sailor man (toot, toot)!

Popeye knew exactly who he was. He was not trying to change his image, but instead he was looking to be with people who accepted his character flaws.

You can spend hours each day trying to change your image or you can spend that time connecting with people who have similar image traits. If you are a CEO who likes wearing shorts and a tee shirt to your stockholders meeting, it may be easier for you to associate with other successful CEO’s who run their company in that same manner.

Popeye knew who he was and what he stood for in life. Business executives need to do the same. Define your goals and seek out others who want to achieve the same. Realize we all have faults, we all have problems, and most days we stress on them. Wouldn’t it be easier to work with like-minded people, who understand you and your business?

Why don’t we all down a can of spinach, accept who we are, and work more on finding connections with people rather than trying to change ourselves. Once we understand who we are, it is much easier to define what we want to become.

Popeye found strength in spinach. Where do you find your strength?
